The Material Way
The Material Way is a collective platform for material-based research, dedicated to supporting curious creators in shaping a more holistic, local, and nature-minded future. Founded by curator Rita Trindade (Through Objects) and creative director Bonnie Hvillum (Natural Material Studio).
This year, through the Local Bio-based Materials program, The Material Way presents an exhibition that blurs the boundaries between art, design, and craft, highlighting projects where materials lead the creative process.
Among the works on view is my project Formative Forces, which explores wild hop (Humulus lupulus) as a source of sustainable fiber and as a link between botanical migrations and cultural craft traditions.
